Thirty-six free tools that answer the questions brochures don't: which rental insurance is a marketing scam, why your ATM charged you 1,500 ISK, how to read the F-road status page, what "ein með öllu" actually means, and the swimming pool rule every Icelander learned at age six.
Six categories, 36 tools. Each one solves a problem the travel-agent-in-the-shop didn't mention.
Rental insurance decoder, F-road daily status, single-lane bridge priority, Keflavík transfer cost, fuel-station finder, parking zones in Reykjavík, winter driving risk.
Hot spring picker (with naked-shower reminder), glacier walk matchmaker, ice cave season, aurora forecast + cloud/moon/location overlay, waterfall crowd planner.
Icelandic dish decoder with pronunciation, hot-dog stand ranking, skyr selector, supermarket receipt decoder, tipping + tax-free bill calculator.
VAT refund after commission, Reykjavík City Card breakeven, ATM fee finder (Euronet trap), ISK currency strategy, seasonal trip budget.
Þ/ð/æ pronunciation coach, patronymic naming decoder, swimming-pool etiquette, puffin/whale ethical operator finder, microbrewery guide, Þorrablót & holiday calendar.
Best-month picker by interest, daylight hours by date, highland weather-window calculator, public holiday crowd impact, summer-vs-winter activity matrix.
Each tool opens as a standalone page. Bookmark the ones you actually need.
What this is. A free, no-signup collection of 36 standalone calculators and reference tools for travelers planning a trip to Iceland. Each tool solves a specific, observable problem — decoding a rental insurance option, picking a hot spring with the right crowd-load, choosing which F-road is realistically driveable in your dates.
Who it's for. Independent travelers (couples, families, digital nomads, photographers, road-trippers) who want a deeper layer than "Top 10 waterfalls" lists. Not a substitute for a guidebook, but a complement.
Why it exists. Most Iceland trip sites recycle the same content: three "must-do" waterfalls, the hot dog stand everyone already knows, the same five-package Northern Lights tour. The interesting problems are downstream — and the answers change every year as road rules, ferry schedules, supermarket pricing and VAT thresholds shift. We try to keep these tools updated and let you see the source for every claim.
Limitations. Iceland travel is highly weather- and season-dependent. The calculators are decision-support, not guarantees. They assume inputs are accurate. Road closures, weather alerts and operator changes happen daily. Always check road.is the day you drive. Always check vedur.is (the Icelandic Met Office) for current conditions. Treat every result as a starting point, not the final word.
What this is not. We are not a tour operator, not a rental car agency, not a tax professional. We don't sell anything. The site has no newsletter, no affiliate scheme that hides the source, and no auto-popups.
Data we do not collect. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or any personal identifier. The calculators run entirely in your browser. Form values you type are processed locally and never sent to our servers.
Cookies and similar technologies. We do not set first-party cookies. We do not use analytics that track individual users (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no fingerprinting). The only first-party storage is localStorage for your personal prefill values (such as your home currency); you can clear it from your browser at any time.
Google AdSense & third-party advertising. When advertisements are displayed on this site, they may be served by Google AdSense or other third-party ad networks. These providers may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver ads based on a user's prior visits to this site or other sites, including interest-based advertising. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, aboutads.info (US/Canada), or youronlinechoices.eu (EU/EEA/UK).
EEA / UK consent. If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we will request consent before setting any non-essential cookies, in line with the ePrivacy Directive. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's cookies.
Third-party content. This site loads two third-party stylesheets — Tailwind CSS and Font Awesome — from public CDNs. These CDNs may log your IP address for delivery purposes. They do not set behavioural cookies for our site.
Children. This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy. We may update this page as the toolset evolves. Material changes will be reflected with a "Last updated" date below.

For informational purposes only. All calculators, prices, schedules and recommendations on this site are provided for general informational and educational purposes. They do not constitute professional, legal, financial, medical, tax or safety advice.
Verify with official sources. Iceland's tourism landscape changes — operators open and close, prices change seasonally, road conditions can close a route you planned two months ago. Before relying on any tool's output for booking or driving decisions, cross-check with the official source cited on the tool's page (typically road.is, vedur.is, skattur.is, samkaup.is, globalblue.com, or the operator's own page).
Safety first. Driving in Iceland involves real hazards — sandstorms on Route 1, river crossings on F-roads, sheep on blind corners, slippery ice in winter, sudden weather changes in the highlands. The calculators on this site cannot substitute for road.is + vedur.is + your own judgement. If a road is marked closed, do not drive it. If your gut says turn back, turn back.
No warranty. We make every effort to keep information accurate and up to date, but we do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific result is correct for your individual circumstances. Use at your own risk.
No affiliate relationships that distort content. Where we recommend a specific operator, route or product, it is based on what we would recommend to a friend. We may run ads on some pages (clearly marked "Advertisement"); ad choices do not influence our tool content.
Contact. For corrections, factual errors or operator changes, please use the form on the contact page (coming soon). We respond to substantive corrections.
No. All 36 tools run in your browser. We do not have a sign-up, a newsletter, or a "create profile" wall.
No — prices are reference values for 2026 from publicly available sources (operator websites, road.is, statistics Iceland, supermarket receipts). They change. The calculators are decision-support, not live feeds.
Because that always adds a third-party iframe, cookie, and tracking layer. We chose simple, fast, no-tracking pages. For live weather and aurora data, use vedur.is and vedurforecast.is directly.
When ads are displayed, they are served by Google AdSense (or another compliant network) in clearly marked slots. They never appear inside a calculator, never auto-popup, and never imitate buttons.
